JAZZANOVA - BELLE ET FOU

Electro-jazz stars present their soundtrack to the Berlin-based contemporary dance theatre production 'Belle Et Fou'. Combining tracks from the Sonar Kollektiv back catalogue withtheir own all-new pieces, they have created soundscapes mashing up genres as disparate as dance, soul, jazz, classical and hip hop. The result functions both as an interesting diversion for them and as a handy stopgap for their fans until the release of their next proper studio album.

Of course the music written especially for Belle et Fou has something special. In the tradition of the "orchestral" soul of the 70s, Barry White, Marvin Gaye and the Blaxploitation Soundtracks by Isaac Hayes were the basic musical idea. But Jazzanova also takes trips deep into folk, acoustic jazz and classic. All in all, the musical side of Belle et Fou is also an ambitious project, one which Arthur Castro and Jazzanova have realised perfectly.

Jazzanova is a German Berlin-based DJ/producer collective consisting of Alexander Barck, Claas Brieler, Jurgen von Knoblauch, Roskow Kretschmann, Stefan Leisering, and Axel Reinemer... one of my favorite bands.
