BLOODY MARY AND SIERRA SAM - LANDSCAPES (2008)

In the wake of their 'Spielbank EP' for Einmaleins earlier this spring, Sierra Sam and Bloody Mary return with the fruits of their recent studio efforts. 'Day Light' borrows elements from both electro and tribal and fits them into a snappy, 4/4 techno scheme. 'Night Time' is distinguished by its eerie, ambient glow, with layers of percussion that weave together into a constellation of rhythm. Paul Ritch attempts to steal the show with his vicious remix of 'Day Light'. Like his past releases on Resopal and Get Physical, it's nearly overflowing with energy, driven by staccato snare rolls and a snarling, fuzzy bassline that cuts in and out without warning.
